As part of my series on Christmas activities for kids, I’m sharing this cute gingerbread man craft the kids and I did recently.
For some reason, Christmas and crafts just go together for me. So I’m always looking for fun little crafts my kids can do. Lately I’ve been a bit fascinated by gingerbread men. So I wanted to put together a simple gingerbread man craft that the kids could do. Due to QBoy’s gluten allergy, using real gingerbread men was out of the question. But I came up with this cute Christmas craft instead. And unlike cookies, these gingerbread men can be displayed on the wall when they are done. 🙂
I prepared a tray for each of my kids with the following items:
- A gingerbread man template (from my Gingerbread Man Templates printable)
- Glue
- Markers
- Buttons
- Googly eyes
- Colored pasta
- Sequins
Both kids took their own approach to decorating their gingerbread man. XGirl did a little with the markers but was more excited about glueing on objects.
QBoy, who has a newfound love of coloring, spent most of the time drawing clothes on his gingerbread man. But eventually he added some embellishments as well.
The end result was of this work was two adorable gingerbread men that will now grace our home for the holidays.
