For this week’s space printable I decided to put together a set of Solar System Lacing Cards.
These are a great way for kids to develop their fine motor skills while also learning about the sun, moon, and planets. I hope these solar system lacing cards will be enjoyed by your kids.
Note: For more solar system printables, see my Space Unit Study page.

My Solar System Lacing Cards printable features a total of 10 different lacing cards, including:
- Mercury
- Venus
- Earth
- Mars
- Jupiter
- Saturn
- Uranus
- Neptune
- Sun
- Moon
Here is a sneak peak at the lacing cards included:

For these cards to be durable, I highly recommend laminating them. We own this awesome home laminator and really enjoy it. After printing and laminating, cut out each of the planets. Then use a hole punch where indicated by the black dots. After you’ve punched holes, show your child how to lace the holes with yarn or string.

This looks like a great printable solar system printable. I am going to try hanging one set from the ceiling and one on the wall.
Thank You!
Hi – Can the kids lace the yarn or string through the holes with their fingers or do they need some type of item to push it through the hole?
Ultimately that might depend on how large you make the holes. I use a regular hole punch and I just have my kids push the string with their fingers. I like to wrap a bit of tape around the end of the yarn so it doesn’t fray. This makes it easy for them to use their fingers.
