Where we live, it doesn’t snow. But that didn’t stop us from enjoying a little snowball fight recently. If you are looking for a little winter-themed gross motor fun, try out this indoor snowball fight activity.

Note: For more wintertime fun, see my Winter Activities for Kids page.

Indoor snowball fight: Who says you can't enjoy a snowball fight even if there's no snow outside?!? || Gift of Curiosity

I started by giving each of the kids some cotton balls to use as “snowballs.” Then I invited them to throw their cotton snowballs into two baskets I set out.

The kids, however, were not very interested in using the baskets as targets. Instead, they preferred to use the baskets to collect as many cotton snowballs as they could.

On this particular day, Grandmum seemed to be the instigator of all sorts of mischief. 🙂 So she suggested to the kids that they dump their baskets full of cotton snowballs on top of each other and on top of me. The kids, of course, thought this was a fantastic idea. 🙂

Next, Grandmum initiated even more mischief by teaching the kids how to stuff cotton snowballs down other people’s shirts. QBoy LOVED this! He laughed so hard when Grandmum put the cotton snowballs down his shirt, and then he shoved a fistful down my shirt and down Grandmum’s shirt. And then he did it again. And again.

By this point, everyone was laughing and jumping and falling down and just generally having a great time.

While my husband and I do plan to take the kids to see real snow someday, this was a great way to bring some of the fun of snow indoors for a little bit.

Fun! We live in Michigan and right now it is too cold to be outside, so this activity would work well for us too.

    Thank you for sharing.

Cute! At least they were not the real, cold ones going down the shirt! We have a Memaw who is an instigator of mischief. Every family needs one I suppose 😉

    Snow is too cold anyway.
We had an indoor snow fight using old newspaper – very messy but very fun.

It doesn’t snow where we live either. I’m thinking we will be using this idea very soon! Thanks!

What a fun idea! I grew up in Florida so we never had snow, I now live where it does snow so my kids get to play in the real stuff. However I hate it and would much rather have an indoor snowball fight like this than go out in the cold (I am a Floridian). I think we will be having an indoor snowball fight soon! Thanks for sharing on We Made That!

Yes, grandmothers are quite good for causing mischief, aren’t they?!? At least I know my mom sure has a knack! And thanks to you for hosting the Sunday Showcase.

What fun! We do not get too much snow where we live so this super cute idea would be a lot of fun in our household. Thank you for linking up to the brand new Hearts for Home Blog Hop!

I do snowball fights during winter themed story times at the library using white socks rolled into balls. They fly through the air quite well. The kiddos have a lot of fun.
