Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31. Halloween, a contraction of “All Hallows’ Evening,” is thought by many scholars to have its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain (pronounced “sah-win”). Today the holiday is celebrated in many parts of the world by dressing up in costume, going trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns, telling scary stories, and more.
Each year when October rolls around, my kids plan out their costumes and we engage in various crafts and activities to celebrate the holiday. Between pumpkins and candy and all the make believe that is part of the holiday, there is never a shortage of fun Halloween activities to do!
