The moon has long been an object of fascination for people on Earth, including children who love to find it in the night sky. The moon is the largest nighttime object in our sky, and it seems to change shape over the course of the month. The moon is also the only object in our solar system other than Earth where man has stepped foot.
If you are studying the moon with your children, today I have not one, not two, but three different phases of the moon printables for your kids to enjoy.
Note: For more moon-related activities, see my Space Unit Study page.
Phases of the Moon Worksheet
This is a simple little worksheet for helping kids to identify the various phases of the moon and to put them in chronological order.
The printable comes with a control page showing the name and picture of each moon phase in order. Then there is a worksheet that asks children to put the correct label on each moon phase. And there is another worksheet that asks children to put the correct picture with each label. Choose the version that works best for your child.
Phases of the Moon Tracking Worksheet
This is a great little worksheet for kids who want to observe the phases of the moon over several days or weeks. Simply enter the date of the observation and circle the picture that best represents what the moon looks like.
Montessori Phases of the Moon 3-Part Cards
I’ve also created a set of Montessori Phases of the Moon 3-Part cards. You can use these to teach the names of each phase. You can also have your kids use these to put the moon phases in order.
