Who says that learning letters can’t involve art or creativity? Not I!
In this next installment of my 101 Ways to Teach the Alphabet Series, I am sharing an activity called Letter Creatures that will really get your children’s creative juices flowing while also familiarizing them with the shapes of the letters.

For this activity, I printed out letters from my Letter Outlines printable available for download. However, you can do this activity with any letters you print or draw yourself.
I paired the letter outlines with some art supplies, including google eyes, pom poms, markers, scissors, and glue. Then I invited my kids to get creative with their letters.
My daughter was drawn to creating a letter creature with the letter ‘t.’ She started with one google eye and a pencil drawn mouth.

Eventually her letter creature got a second eye and some colorful stripes.

The sky is the limit as far as how your kids can create their letter creatures. Just let their imagination take over!
An ‘h’ can become an animal wearing a hat.

An ‘s’ can become a snake.

A ‘y’ can become a one-footed creature wearing a blue shoe.

And a ‘z’ can get a silly, red nose.
