I’m thrilled to share a new printable resource with you today to help with children’s understanding of vertebrates vs. invertebrates. Check out my Vertebrates vs. Invertebrates Montessori Picture Sorting Cards below!
In Montessori education, there are zoology activities that involve understanding the difference between vertebrate animals – those with a backbone (aka, spine) – and invertebrate animal – those with no backbone.
My Vertebrates vs. Invertebrates Picture Sorting Cards feature 2 category label cards and the following 22 animal picture cards:
- vertebrates
- rabbit
- snake
- dog
- eagle
- dolphin
- frog
- mouse
- horse
- owl
- fish
- kangaroo
- invertebrates
- ant
- butterfly
- crab
- locust
- jellyfish
- sea star (aka, starfish)
- snail
- spider
- wasp
- ladybug (aka, ladybird beetle)
- octopus
I included two additional cards for sea stars and ladybugs using alternative names for people who prefer to call them starfish and ladybird beetle.
The animal pictures in this download are sharp and beautiful. Your children will enjoy learning about vertebrates and invertebrates as they sort these attractive animal cards.
