I’m excited to share with you the new Valentine play dough mats I have created to inspire some Valentine-themed sensory play!

Using play dough, of course, has many benefits. For example, it gives children’s fine motor skills a workout. Play dough also encourages children to use their imaginations. So why incorporate play dough mats into your play dough experience? Play dough mats encourage your children to use play dough in new and interesting ways. Play dough mats can also be used to practice basic skills.

My Valentine play dough mats can be used to practice one-to-one correspondence, number recognition, and shape recognition. Kids might also use the pictures as a starting point for some imaginative play. Play dough mats are just one more tool in your toolbox for engaging kids in some skill-building sensory play.

Note: You can find this and other Valentine activities on my Valentine activities for kids page.

To use play dough mats, print the mats you wish to use on high quality paper. Run the pages through a laminator. I love and recommend this inexpensive home laminator that you can use with these thermal laminating pouches.

Once the pages are laminated, you are good to go! Just hand your kids the laminated play dough mats along with some play dough and let them explore and create. (I like to put everything on a tray to contain some of the mess.)

On a recent morning, my kids enjoyed using some of the mats included in my Valentine play dough mats pack.

QBoy formed the number 2 with play dough.

I am hosting a Valentine’s play group tomorrow. After seeing this, I think we’ll be going some play doh fun. 🙂
