I adore learning about the Arctic. I find it fascinating to understand how animals have adapted to living in such harsh winter conditions.
While many animals migrate out of the Arctic during the dark and cold winter months, other animals live in the Arctic year round. These animals have to stay warm in sub-freezing temperatures. They have to avoid predators. And they have to feed themselves. It’s an amazing struggle for survival.
The Arctic is a great topic of study during the winter time. And I’ve got a resource that will make planning an Arctic Unit Study a cinch!
I have created an Arctic Unit Study Bundle. And I recently added even more printable materials.
I have worked really hard to give this Arctic Unit Study bundle a ton of value for you and your children.
I truly believe that with my Arctic Unit Study bundle, you will have all the ideas and printable resources you need to create a fun, engaging, educational, and hands-on Arctic unit for kids from preschool through second grade.
What makes the Arctic so fun to learn about?
Did you know that eight countries extend into the Arctic: Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Canada, and the USA (Alaska)? Kids can look at a globe to find all the land masses included in the Arctic.
Did you know that the lowest temperature ever recorded in the Arctic is -90° F (-68° C)? Kids can do a blubber experiment to understand how thick layers of fat keep animals warm in the cold Arctic temperatures.
Did you know that many Arctic animals change colors during the year? Animals like the Arctic hare and the ptarmigan are white in the winter and brown in the summer to provide the best camouflage for different times of year. My Arctic unit study includes ideas to help children understand what camouflage is and how it helps animals stay away from predators.
What will you find inside the Arctic Unit Study Bundle?
My favorite part of the Arctic Unit Study bundle is the teacher’s guide with facts about the Arctic, suggested books, and more than 30 different activity ideas for your Arctic Unit.
These activities cover a range of curricular areas, including sensory, fine motor, art, science, math, and early literacy. Plus, I’ve thrown in a few extra activities that are just plain FUN!
Here are a few sample pages from the teacher’s guide:

I love that you use photographs for your illustrations. I feel annoyed when so many sites use cutsie pictures of smiling animals that it’s important to me to mention it.
Thanks so much
Katie
Thank you! I agree that real photos are better than illustrations whenever possible.
