If you like art, science, or you just like to be amazed, you'll love creating these magic Christmas pictures with the kids in your life this holiday season! #magic #Christmas #STEAM #art #science || Gift of Curiosity

To make these magic Christmas pictures, you’ll need to gather the following materials:

  • Paper towels
  • Markers
  • Something to protect your table top
  • Pan with about 1 inch of water

Lay down something to protect your table top. Then place a double layer of paper towel on the table.

Magic Christmas Pictures - double layer of paper towel

Use a black marker to draw the outline of your picture on the top layer of paper towel.

Magic Christmas Pictures - draw an image on top layer

Check that the outline bled through the top layer of paper towel onto the bottom layer. (It’s okay if it only bled through partway – the bleeding is just to guide you in the next step.)

Magic Christmas Pictures - make sure image bleeds through to bottom layer

Add color to the bottom layer.

Magic Christmas Pictures - Color in bottom layer

Set out a pan of water.

Magic Christmas Pictures - Fill a shallow pan with water

Fold the top layer of paper towel back on top of the bottom layer, and gently drop it into the pan.

Magic Christmas Pictures - drop the design into the pan of water and watch the magic happen!

Then watch the magic happen!
