What’s the best part about Halloween? For some, it’s dressing up in costume. For others, it’s going trick-or-treating. And for others still, it is carving pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns!
Jack-o-lanterns were first brought to the United States by Irish immigrants in the 1800s. And here’s a fun fact: Did you know that the original Jack-o-Lanterns were not made from pumpkins, but from hollowed out turnips, rutabagas, gourds, and potatoes?
Today, as you likely know, jack-o-lanterns are carved almost exclusively from pumpkins. They can be happy, sad, silly, or scary.
Can your children find all the different jack-o-lanterns in this new Jack-o-Lantern I Spy printable?
Note: For more Halloween printables, see my Halloween Activities for Kids page.
There are a total of three printable games in the Jack-o-Lantern I Spy download, with three different levels of difficulty. This allows you to tailor the activity to your child’s level. This is also helpful when you have children of different ages who all want to do the same activity. Just select the appropriate level for each child and let them enjoy!
Playing Jack-o-Lantern I Spy is easy. Simply print the page, and then invite your child to find the pictures that are listed.
Your child can play by him or herself. Or two people can work together to find and count all the pictures.
However you decide to play, I hope you enjoy!
Here is a sneak peak at the three I spy games included in the download:
