Know a young animal lover?

Have a child who enjoys a challenge?

Want to play a fun matching game?

If you answered yes to these questions, I’ve got a new printable activity you are going to love.

The What Animal Am I? Matching Cards will provide plenty of challenge and entertainment for young animal-loving kids.

Note: For more animal learning resources see my Zoology page.

Use these Montessori-inspired What Animal Am I? Matching Cards to teach children about different animal coverings and/or to challenge your child to identify animals just from close-up images of their skin, scale, fur, or feathers. #GiftOfCuriosity #Montessori #Zoology #AnimalKingdom #preschool #kindergarten #prek #giftofcuriosityprintables || Gift of Curiosity

This set of What Animal Am I? Matching Cards features the following 15 animals:

  • elephant
  • peacock
  • zebra
  • armadillo
  • chameleon
  • duck
  • fish
  • snake
  • leopard
  • porcupine
  • sea turtle
  • sheep
  • tiger
  • octopus
  • snail

The file includes a close up and a full body image for each of the animals. Children are then tasked to identify the animal in the close up image.

Try out these three different ways to play:

Present just the “Which Animal Am I?” cards to the child and have them guess what animal is featured on the card just from looking at the close up picture.

What Animal Am I? Matching Cards

Present the “Which Animal Am I?” cards and the “I am a ___” cards to the child and have them match the pictures to the correct animals.

What Animal Am I? Matching Cards

Prepare the cards so that the “Which Animal Am I?” card is on the front and the “I am a ___” card is on the back. This way, the child can challenge themselves and check their own answer by flipping the card over.
