It’s common knowledge that real snowflakes typically have six sides. But did you know they also have six-fold radial symmetry?
This means that that if you draw six evenly spaced lines out from the center of a snowflake, the shape on that line is repeated on the five other lines.
Children can practice drawing the six parts of a snowflake’s radial symmetry with this Draw the Missing Part of the Snowflake printable.
There are a total of six different snowflake designs included in this printable, and each design has a simple and an advanced version.
In the simple version, five parts of the snowflake are provided and children must draw in the one missing part.
In the advanced version, one part of the snowflake is provided and children must draw in the other five parts.
