A few years ago I created my first ocean-themed bingo game with some cutesy clip art I had found.
More recently, I acquired a new set of ocean clip art featuring realistic looking images, and I decided to create a new Ocean Animals Bingo game for people who prefer more life-like images.
While both sets of Ocean Animals Bingo are fun, I like using realistic images for teaching children to identify ocean animals.
So if you’ve got young children who love ocean animals or who are learning to identify the creatures of the sea, I hope you’ll enjoy using this free Ocean Animals Bingo game.
Note: For more awesome ocean printables your kids will love, see my Ocean Unit Study page.
Playing Ocean Animals Bingo helps children learn to identify and name various ocean animals such as crab, walrus, lobster, orca, octopus, and more.
Plus, did you know that playing Bingo can help children develop their executive functioning skills?
Executive functioning skills are controlled by the frontal cortex of the brain, and they are integral to the development of important skills such as impulse control. (We all want our kids to exhibit better impulse control, right?)
Changing up the rules each time you play Ocean Animals Bingo is a great way to give kids’ executive functioning skills a workout.
For example, the first time kids need to get a straight line to win. The next time kids need to get the four corners to win. The next time kids need to fill in all squares to win. Mixing it up like this will help kids develop flexibility in their thinking.
My Ocean Animals Bingo game printable features a total of 10 different playing cards. Here is a sneak peak at the first six:
And here is a sneak peak at the calling cards used for playing. You’ll notice these 12 ocean animals:
- Squid
- Shark
- Lobster
- Marlin fish
- Orca
- Octopus
- Tuna fish
- Angelfish
- Nautilus
- Crab
- Walrus
- Lionfish
You can play blackout Bingo, four corners Bingo, or line Bingo with these cards.
No matter how you play, my Ocean Animals Bingo game provides a great opportunity to learn about the creatures of the sea while having fun at the same time.
